Dr. Loo Cheen Yeng

Dr. Loo Cheen Yeng has graduated from University of Malaya with M.B B.S in 1993. She then obtained the Masters of Medicine from National University of Singapore and Fellowship of the Royal College of Edinburough (U.K) simultaneously in 1999.

She has won the prestigious "Best Scientific Paper Award" in 1999 in the Malaysian-Singapore Congress.

She has also presented many papers and case studies in Malaysian as well as international ophthalmic congresses such as the ICIMRK2002 in China. She has also researched & published on the Cataract Surgery Service in the country (Malaysia) in year 2002.

Dr Loo obtained vast hands-on experience in Hospital Kuala Lumpur from 1999 to 2001. She was then the sole ophthalmologist running the Paediatric & strabismus service. Subsequently she worked in Singapore National Eye Centre and trained in the highly challenging field of Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, and Aesthetic Oculoplasty and Complicated Cataract Surgery.

Back in Malaysia, she is currently one of the 5 ophthalmologists competent in doing the latest "Laser DCR" procedure- an out-patient laser treatment for blocked nasolacrimal duct (giving rise to persistent tearing problem) that does not leave any scar on the face.

Her excellence in the field of Refractive Cataract Surgery has made her the pioneer in implanting the High Definition Accommodating Lens (Crystalens HD) in the country. She is currently the most experienced Crystalens surgeon in Malaysia. She was also invited as speaker/ expert opinion for toric lens implantation and microincision incision cataract surgery (MIC) by leading IOL industries in Malaysia.

Dr. Loo is also a member of the American Association of Ophthalmologist (AAO) since 2003, European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery , Malaysian Society of Ophtalmologists (MSO) and Malaysian Medical Association(MMA)

In year 2000, Dr. Lee Kok Foo received his basic medical degree (MD) and obtained his postgraduate qualification in Masters of Ophthalmology from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2010.

Dr Lee practiced as a clinical specialist (ophthalmology) in Hospital Taiping and subsequently continue his career in Hospital Tuanku Ja'afar Seremban. His interest in Ophthalmology is in Cataract Surgery, Neuro-ophthalmology, and Medical Retina diseases.

While at Hospital Taiping and Hospital Tuanku Ja'afar Seremban, he was actively involved in teaching and supervising master and medical students, notably as Honorary Lecturer for International Medical University. He was also the representative from opthamology department to be a commitee member in Clinical Researh Center from Hospital Tuanku Ja'afar Seremban.

In addition, he has published several articles in local and international academic journals and has also presented in many local and international platforms. One of his study was awarded Young Investigator's Award - Clinical Ophthalmology at the Asia ARVO 2011 Meeting on Research In Vision and Ophthalmology 2011 in Singapore for the poster presentation. This is a very prestigious award and first time ever won by Malaysian.

Dr. Kenneth Fong Choong Sian

OUR VISITING VITREORETINAL CONSULTANT

Dr. Fong Choong Sian graduated from Cambridge University with several prizes in 1998. Following a prestigious job in Neurosurgery and Neurology at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. He completed 3 years of basic surgical training at the Western Eye Hospital, London. Immediately after obtaining the MRCOpthth Diploma, He was appointed as a Specialist Registrar on the London Higher specialist training rotation in 2003. He obtained the FRCOphth diploma in January 2007.

He has completed a Fellowship in Vitreoretinal surgery at the Royal Perth Hospital and Lions Eye Institute in Perth, Western Australia in 2008. As the main teaching hospital in Western Australia, the Royal Perth Hospital manages all patients with advanced vitreoretinal disease for the whole state. The Lions Eye Institute is the largest Ophthalmology research unit in the southern hemisphere. Prior to that in 2007, He was a Fellow in Vitreoretinal Surgery at Cheltenham General Hospital, UK.
 
He is experienced high-volume surgeon with a low rate of complications and has broad clinical and surgical training in all aspects of ophthalmology. He has completed his specialist registrar training in ophthalmology at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and has obtained his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in November 2008. As a Retinal Specialist Ophthalmologist, Dr. Fong has experienced in all aspects of vitreoretinal surgery including the latest techniques of 25 gauge vitrectomy, the use of heavy silicone oil, and management of complex retinal detachments in diabetic patients. He has extensive experience in the use of intravitreal Anti-VEGF agents for the management of various macular diseases including macular degeneration, diabetic maculopathy and central retinal vein occlusion. Dr. Fong has extensive basic and clinical science research interests and, to date, has published 20 peer-reviewed articles and 2 book chapters. He is also an invited peer-reviewed for several international ophthalmology journals.
